The Red Raiders V.S. Chris Beard

What an absolute dream situation for Texas Tech.

Chris Beard coached in Lubbock for five years and led them to a National Championship game in 2019. He coached multiple NBA guys and lead the Red Raiders to over 100 wins in his five-year stint. Everything looked up for Beard and the Red Raiders. A rolling lifetime contract was on the table. Final Four caliber teams and recruits wanting to play for Tech.

Then Beard just, Left.

What makes it worse, is he didn't just leave, he went to Texas.

Good luck finding a logical reason for Beard to leave anywhere online because it doesn't exist.

Unfortunately for Beard, he is still, and will always be the second-best "Coach Beard".

If I was a student at Tech, I would have this game circled on the calendar since Beard announced he was leaving in April of 2021. It seems like most students did. Students started camping outside the arena as early as Saturday ahead of Tuesday night's game.

I mean this is awesome. You can only dream of getting this kind of shot while playing Die. This guy is gonna have this picture framed and hung on the living room wall of his house on campus. A weekend full of camping, beer, and basketball. What is better?

Coming from a school that has a general admission student section, there are a few things that can help you look cool while you do the "run down the stairs as fast as possible to get the best seat" run. Nonetheless, it is one of the best runs ever.

The best video of the night comes from Jeff Goodman. The infamous Swag Surf. At UD we get a pretty respectable swag surf after halftime, but this is on another level. Just take a look.

Watching this game on TV, was almost annoying. It was pretty much impossible to hear the announcers, The ultimate compliment for students. Tech ran away with the 77-64 win. Beard went home, probably developed some mental health issues, and went to bed with his ears still ringing.

Texas Tech has the atmosphere of the year so far in college basketball. With huge games around the country, it's going to be a fun month for student sections.
